Service Description

A high-quality 1-hour session designed to help young footballers move better, run faster, and build the athletic qualities needed for AFL performance. The SAS Coaching AFL Athletic Development Session is built for players who want to improve the physical tools that underpin strong football performance. This session focuses on developing the key athletic qualities needed in the modern game, including speed, acceleration, agility, running mechanics, power, and movement efficiency. It is designed to help athletes become more explosive, more confident in their movement, and better equipped to perform at training and on game day. Delivered in a structured, energetic, and challenging environment, this session gives players targeted athletic development that directly supports their football. What the session focuses on Speed and Acceleration Players will work on the fundamentals of moving faster and more efficiently, including: acceleration technique first-step speed body position and posture arm action force into the ground repeat efforts and intent These components are critical for winning contests, closing space, creating separation, and impacting the game. Agility and Change of Direction Football is not played in straight lines. Players need to be able to react, decelerate, and change direction efficiently under pressure. The session may include work on: footwork and coordination balance and control deceleration mechanics cutting and directional change reactive movement body control in game-like patterns Running Mechanics and Movement Quality Better movement leads to better performance. Athletes will be coached on the technical details that improve running efficiency and help build better habits over time.
