U14–15 AFL Athletic Development – 4 Week Elite / Academy Preparation Running Program Level: Elite / Talent Pathway Preparation Frequency: 3 sessions per week (non-consecutive days) Primary Objective: Prepare high-performing U14–15 athletes for U15 talent pathway and academy standards by maximising 2 km performance, developing game-simulation running capacity, and exposing athletes to max velocity and speed endurance under fatigue Designed for: • Players targeting U15 talent squads, academies, or representative programs • Athletes with a strong aerobic base and sound sprint mechanics Prerequisite: • Completion of U14–15 Intermediate block or equivalent capacity • Ability to complete a 2 km run with controlled pacing Coaching Guidelines Training quality is paramount: every rep has intent Athletes must hold posture, rhythm, and mechanics under fatigue RPE Scale (1–10) 1–2 very easy | 3–4 easy | 5 steady | 6 challenging | 7 hard | 8 very hard | 9–10 maximal
